Friday poem

I'm posting an original poem every Friday for a year. This is 19/52.

After an argument

While trying to figure out exactly what I want to say to you,

I gather what I’ll need.

A handful of parentheses, several slashes, one hash mark, a double space,

four @s, a tilde,

one quotation and two exclamations.

Seven lowly commas.

Colon, bracket, apostrophe, and the guillemets—hey, it may come in handy.

Surely a hyphen and ellipsis; but no need for a caret or solidus.

I’m ready.

And now you say you just want to talk?
